Head vs Heart: Learning To Trust Your Gut

By Jonathon Vogel

I have been learning to trust my gut over the past year.

If you have read my posts about moving to Nashville, you know I have been discovering how God wants to use me and who I am becoming.

There is only so much I can do by knocking on doors, meeting people, and trying to force my future into existence.

The pattern I kept repeating was trying to do everything alone and ignoring the version of myself that knew I was not acting in alignment with who I actually am.

After talking with people who seem grounded and at peace, I started learning the value of matching my actions to the version of myself that lives from an overflowing cup and listens to the Holy Spirit.

Grinding blindly can work for a while, but it is not how I am meant to live.

I am far more aligned with drawing the right people and resources into my life so I can come fully alive and serve others.

I think of this like a lighthouse. A lighthouse draws the right ships into the harbor and warns the wrong ones away from danger. In the same way, I want to attract the people I can help best and point others toward what they need instead.

Living intuitively means getting out of your head and into your heart. The more you trust what your gut and heart are telling you, the easier it becomes to see what you want and take action toward it.
