Christmas is a great act of mercy, a boon of grace, and an opportunity for great joy and gratitude.
We need Christmas, for without it, we lose the meaning of our place while on Earth. Let me explain.
If God comes down, becomes man, and atones for our sins in suffering and death, then He has shown us everything we need. He has made the world, the playbook on how to live it (the Bible), and the perfect example of what a life well-lived looks like (Jesus Christ).
If God really did all this, we need everything Christmas has to offer. God's coming into the world is His greatest gift to mankind. His tangible presence in our lives demonstrates His love for us and His great mercy and invitation to participate in His Divine Life.
We need Christmas to remind us of who we are, celebrant sons and daughters of the King of the Universe. Heaven is a party, and we're invited to participate even now through the season of Christmas.
